Dr Nick Owens qualified in medicine in Dublin, Ireland in 1996 and has been working as a consultant psychiatrist in Melbourne since 2003. Nick has extensive experience in public mental health services working in general adult psychiatry and forensic psychiatry and has also worked in private practice providing assessment and treatment of common mental disorders in adults.

Valuing a collaborative approach to diagnosis and treatment, Nick is keen on developing a mutually meaningful formulation of mental health problems that builds on top of, but is not limited to, biomedical frameworks of understanding. Central to his approach is an ethic of cultivating care for the inner life of the individual, with therapeutic value placed on respect for the transpersonal realms of experience.
