I am an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker and I enjoy working with young people (12+) and adults experiencing a range of challenges, and appreciate that we all hold our own story, and enjoy exploring this with people to understand them on an individual level. I also hold a particular interest in working with the LGBTQIA+ community, and diverse population groups.
I have experience in working with anxiety and mood difficulties, personality and relational difficulties, psychosis, trauma, suicidal thoughts, self-harm and identity issues. My style is warm and empathic, and I aim to understand each individual within their particular context, and assist them in making sense of their inner world and identifying ways to move forward.
I have experience in community, public mental health and counselling. I have completed training in and draw upon evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectal Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing and am currently completing further training in Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT). I understand that not one therapy model fits all and believe that a flexible and collaborative approach is needed when embarking on a therapeutic journey.
